Shatter Me is the first novel by the 23-year-old Mafi. Scheduled to hit bookshelves this fall, Variety reports that Shatter Me is set in a dystopian world and centers on a 17-year-old girl who is thrown in the slammer for "possessing a fatal touch." As the story goes, the girl must choose between giving up her power or using it to save a world that is on the fast track to ruin. Next up, 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to adapt Tahereh Mafi's young adult novel Shatter Me. Although this is Kelman's first script sale, the scribe previously penned the controversially sex-fueled novel girls back in 2003. I would highly recommend Shatter Me to fans of dystopian fiction, The Hunger Games, Divergent, or those looking for a unique. Details on the script are sparse as Variety goes only so far as to describe Genneris as a "high-concept sci-fi film" (based on that alone, sign me up). Swearing is very mild and was okay to let my child read, as we watch movies with the same (or even worse) language and wasnt. First up, DreamWorks has purchased Nic Kelman's original spec script Genneris.
